Eternal Life
There are many not so boring details in the Bible, but the larger unified story throughout the books of the Bible is about Jesus and eternal salvation, because souls are on the line! There are lots of non-essential issues, “What Ifs?”, that would be nice to know, but belief in the power and person of Jesus IS God’s plan for salvation, that people repent, and turn to Him!
All the stories in the Bible, keep pointing toward (Old Testament) and then back (New Testament) to this one guy, Jesus. The collection of stories in the Bible highlights humanity’s need for a Savior. We need Jesus. He’s the way we get back to God’s original design and restore our relationship with our Father. It’s because of what Jesus has already done that we can go from not so boring to living an eternal life! Jesus came to fulfill prophecies written many centuries before his coming and *Bible Spoiler Alert* he’s coming back!
The leap from not so boring to life changing is simple – it’s faith. All you have to do is believe in God’s Word, repent, and follow Jesus. God knows we have messed up, but He loves us still! God doesn’t want perfect robots, or He would have made perfect robots! God wants a partnership with us. We can know God loves us by what His son Jesus did for us. The Holy Spirit works to remind us of this! Have you embraced Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 (English Standard Version)
Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
John 5:24 (New International Version)
A Not So Boring Prayer to Pray:
God, I need you. I know I have sinned and I haven’t trusted you. I believe in your son Jesus. Thank you Jesus for dying for me and all my sins. Lord, help me follow your ways and do your will, and not my own. Holy Spirit lead me. I want a relationship with you God. I want my life to glorify you God, forever! I will trust and follow you Lord. Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
What do you do now?!? You don’t have to go and sell all your stuff (though if that’s what you love more than following Jesus it might be what you need to do)! Jesus tells us the most important thing is to love God with all your heart, soul and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Going to a church is where we can gather together to strengthen and encourage each other. Jesus also tells us to go and make disciples.
God’s grace is free, but if we truly believe, our actions will show others, and ourselves, the reflection of our heart. You’re going to need a Bible, and you’re going to need to read the Bible, because it is the Word of God. God can speak to you through the Bible! The Bible is life changing. We should be excited to share this book with others! Go share the good news!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (English Standard Version)
