Context

The books of the Bible originally had no verses or chapters numbered in them. This added convenience is great for memorizing passages and finding specific sections, but the context can get lost.

Main Thought
Context is very important. Taking a Bible verse out of context doesn’t always mean that the verse isn’t speaking to you or mean it’s now saying something different, but it’s important when we read and share Scripture to understand the original speaker, audience, and point the author was trying to make. Everything in the Bible can be taken out of context if you just take one part and read it. A single verse, a paragraph, a chapter, or even just one book of the many books of the Bible doesn’t tell the whole complete story God wants to share with us.
